Carrie Sack, LMT

I started High School thinking I want to be a massage therapist and then my senior year I changed my mind completely and decided to go to school for criminal justice. I went to college at Colorado Technical University for a year and decided that criminal justice was not me. I realized that I am too soft hearted to go into the criminal justice field. From there I transferred to National American University and starting going to school for massage therapy. Ever since then I have never looked back at criminal justice. National American University taught me a lot about the business side of massage as well as certain techniques. I graduated with an associate’s degree in massage therapy in 2007.

When I first graduated I received a job at Body Sculpting Day Spa and I have been working there for a little over a year. I felt like I wanted to learn more therapeutic

Massage so I applied for a job at the Brookings Chiropractic Center. I still live in Sioux Falls and drive to work every morning, but from growing up in Brookings I knew the experience with the seven doctors here is well worth it! I am always willing to learn new things so the continuing education is great for me. Some of the things I am interested in learning are fertility, equine, and better informed in pregnancy massage.

My mission is to help relieve your everyday stresses and make you feel better. My massage consists of Hot Stones, Swedish, Deep Tissue, and Stretching. Also in my spare time I show horses and I am in the process of learning how to golf because my husband is a golf pro in Sioux Falls. I’m looking forward to helping you with your everyday stress!

It all started back in high school. I was required to write a paper on a career that I had never considered on doing. The topic that I chose was massage therapy. This paper is what peaked my interest. I had to figure out what I wanted to do with my life during my senior year, I was completely set on doing something with music. However, something just didn’t feel right. So I started looking at my options. This is when I realized that my calling was to go into massage therapy.

I went to school at Minnesota State Community and Technical College in Wadena, Minnesota for massage therapy. I learned many different techniques and met a lot of very interesting people. After I graduated from my program in May of 2007, I moved back home, here, to Brookings. I was very fortunate to accept a job with the Brookings Chiropractic Clinic and got started right out of school. My goal with my massage therapy practice is to allow the people who come see me to be able to escape everything that may be going on with their lives and be able to relax and just breathe. My main focus with massage is to relieve stress and work out any pains that people may have in their muscles. I do this using a unique blend of Swedish massage, trigger point therapy, myofascial release, and stretching techniques.

I really would like to get more educated with reflexology and prenatal techniques so I can further help my massage patients. My number one goal is to make you feel better. It always brings my joy when someone comfortably walks way after receiving a treatment feeling much better than when they first came. So if you want to feel physically revitalized and mentally relaxed, come see me at the Brookings Chiropractic Center for a massage today!

I used to resent it! "Will you rube my back?" "Will you rub my back?" Sometimes there were no words at all, just this puppy dog look that said, "Will you rub my back?" It was a double edge sword. I loved that I could do something that would help people and yet, I felt used. So when it came time to pick my college career, I knew I wanted to do something to help people, but I wasn’t convinced massage therapy was the right thing for me. So I picked the occupational therapy assistant program in Watertown, SD, which took me a journey to the Human Service Department in Yankton, SD. I loved the rehab part of occupational therapy, but getting some of my patients to go through their rehab program was a bit of a challenge. So I found that using mini shoulder and feet massages helped my patients relax and work harder. If it wasn’t for these experiences, I would have never re-thought what it meant to give a person a massage and how rewarding it could really be.

My massage technique is a little different from the norm. I mix a relaxing environment with a therapeutic massage that includes stretching, trigger point therapy and myofascial release in order to get that one of a kind massage.

Now, with the resentment gone and the passion for massage back, I have my life again. I have had the opportunity to enjoy my new life as a wife, a better friend, and a more relaxed person.

Tristian Molitor, LMT

I was unsure of what I wanted to do after high school, until I was involved in a motor vehicle accident that left me with a severe whiplash injury. I started going to a chiropractor two or three times a week to help with the severe headaches and migraines. After a year or two of continual chiropractic care I was informed of Massage and what it could do to help me with my headaches. After a short time of getting massages and continuing with my chiropractic care, my headaches disappeared and I started feeling better, more relaxed, and healthier. I knew then that I wanted to help others who may be suffering from pain or discomfort.

I attended the Massage Therapy program at The Salon Professional Academy in Great Falls, Montana. The most valuable experience for me at school was my clinical work. I enjoyed listening to my clients needs and creating a unique massage to focus on what they needed, from using hot rocks for relaxation to more focused trigger point.

I am very interested in learning more in this ever-changing and progressing field. I plan to continue my education and go into reflexology, sports massage, and I would like to travel to Thailand and specialize and become a teacher of Thai massage.

Dr. Schneider Asks some important questions of interest to Brookings residents - Chiropractor Brookings Dr. Schneider Asks...

How long does it take to form a bone spur?
Many who begin chiropractic care think their problem happened "last week when you bent over funny." But pictures of the spine tell a different story. Chiropractors know it can take your body years to deposit the calcium necessary to form a bone spur. It's your body's response to stress due to gravity or joint malfunction. And chiropractic care can help.
Why do so many drugs require a prescription?
Because they can be dangerous? I chose a chiropractic career specifically because it avoids artificial means of pain relief. Our Brookings chiropractic practice attracts health-conscious families that prefer a safe and natural solution. Ready to get started? Call our office today.
